PDP Unveils the New XBOX360 Motion Controller & DS Stylus

Good news for xbox fan boys!

The motion sensored-godliness featured in the Wii and PS3 is now coming to the XBOX 360! Xbox 360 modders will no longer have to pull off the xbox 360 motion sensor mod anymore!

The Gametrak Freedom from PDP will offer wireless motion-based controls using Microsoft's proprietary wireless protocol. The Gametrak uses a 3D ultrasonic transducer and a three axis accelerometer to detect motion. You'll also find a trigger on the under side, as well as the 360's familiar four button configuration and a D-pad.
So whats different? Is this just a Wii rip-off or what?
According to PDP, Wii uses a single sensor for point of direction. PDP saved the issue with the Wiimote and supplied the Gametrak with 2 sensors, one in front and the other opposite of the tevelision.
The gametraks first inital test results on the game "Gametrak Freedom" with Squeeballs, a game that PDP will bundle with the controller. All was a success!

Enough with the 360 and lets head over to the new DS Stylus.
PDP is releasing the Smart Stylus 1, which has the ability to vibrate to indicate explosions among other things. The stylus is wireless and currently uses the GBA port to communicate with the DS.

Uh oh. Did I hear GBA Port? According to Nintendo, their new product running down their assembly lines of April; the DSi, does not support GBA due to the loss of a GBA slot.
As of right now, the Smart Stylus 1 will be compatible with the DS and DSLite until there is a compatible solution.

NEWS UPDATE:

PDP is currently in talks with Nintendo to get approval for a DS cartridge version to make the device compatible with the DSi. PDP will bundle the Smart Stylus with a DS version of Squeeballs for $35 this fall. PDP is also hard at work to make the Smart Stylus 2 - a stylus that incorporates vibration, lights, sound and motion sensing capabilities.

Good save PDP. We all were worried there for a second. But why make a GBA Slot version? That will be incompatible to the new DSi? Considering the amounts of money you will be saving. Scratch the whole Smart Stylus 1 project and jump right on into the Smart Stylus 2!!
